OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)

An Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in the automotive sector refers to a company that designs, manufactures, and markets vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs). OEMs play a pivotal role as they not only produce the vehicles but often have a say in the development and specification of charging hardware, software, and standards. Some OEMs collaborate with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) or even establish their own branded charging networks to ensure their EV customers have access to convenient and efficient charging solutions. By actively participating in the EV charging ecosystem, OEMs aim to enhance the overall EV ownership experience, to ensure that charging is as seamless and user-friendly as possible for their customers.
