CPO (Charge Point Operator)

A Charge Point Operator (CPO) refers to an entity or organization responsible for the operation, managament and administration and/or installation and maintenance of electric vehicle (EV) charging points. Within the electric mobility landscape, CPOs play a central role in ensuring that EV drivers have access to reliable and efficient charging infrastructure. Their responsibilities can encompass software integration, operation, user support, site selection, equipment deployment and billing and payment processing. CPOs can collaborate with various stakeholders, which can include Charge Point Manufacturers (CPMs), utilities, property owners, eMobility Service providers and municipalities, to expand and optimize the charging network. They often utilize Charge Point Management Systems (CPMS) to monitor and manage their charging stations remotely. As the backbone of the EV charging ecosystem, CPOs are instrumental in facilitating the widespread adoption of electric vehicles by providing accessible, convenient, and seamless charging experiences for EV drivers. [Charge Point Operator (CPO) is often synonymous with Charge Station Operator (CSO)]
